Lake Cortese

Introduction

It can be reached from the municipality of Riva Valdobbia (VC), following the communal road to Ca' di Janzo (Val Vogna). from Ca' di Janzo, follow the carriage road and pass the hamlets at the bottom of the valley to the artificial lake at the hamlet of Peccia (45 min).

Description

from this point follow the mule track on the valley floor that goes over the so-called "Napoleon's" bridge and crosses the Vogna river. Continue along a well-traced mule track passing by Alpe Buzzo (20 min) and Alpe Pioda di sotto (15 min) at this point take a path on the orographic right side (to the left, then) that goes up a scree covered with alder bushes (which hide the path). it is advisable to take the two cottages of Alpe Cortese (40 min) as a reference point (photo from Lake Cortese), pointing 200 metres to the right of these, and then continue horizontally. from Alpe Cortese, follow the gorge and reach the lake
