Introduction

The village of Abaz is located within the municipality of Challand-Saint-Victor, situated in the Ayas Valley, also known as the Evançon Valley. Challand-Saint-Victor is a municipality rich in history and tradition, characterised by a sunny location protected from the winds, with a dry climate that favours a welcoming and serene environment. The surrounding territory is of ancient anthropisation, with traces dating back as far as the Aeneolithic age, bearing witness to the long history of human settlement in the area.

Description

Abaz is one of the many villages that make up the municipality and, like other settlements in the area, retains a deep connection with the medieval past and the vicissitudes of the Challant family, one of the most influential in Valle d'Aosta. The area offers not only a rich historical heritage, but also remarkable natural beauty, including the Lake Villa nature reserve, famous for its biodiversity and rare aquatic plant species. The village of Abaz, nestled in this setting, is an ideal starting point for exploring both the cultural heritage and natural wonders of Challand-Saint-Victor and its surroundings.
