Description
From the Casa del Fondo, cross the plain, and the cross-country track, in the direction of the bridge over the Stura known as "Ponte del Ciamberlin"; instead of crossing the bridge, turn sharply to the right between the long stone wall that acts as an embankment and the bed of the Stura.
We continue along the plateau, heading west, facing the imposing mass of the Lera massif, as far as the hamlet of Villaretto, without however heading towards the road and the houses but remaining parallel to the course of the Stura. Just in front of Villaretto, we turn left and cross the river over the bridge known as the 'Magnesia' bridge and begin to climb along gentle slopes, almost free of vegetation, in a south-westerly direction and, between alternating steep stretches and picturesque plateaus, we come within sight of the houses of the hamlet of Perinera.
On the way up, the superb view of the Lera is lost, being right at the foot of the crags that form its base, but there are pleasant views of the Vallone d'Arnas (to the north) and of Punta Lunella and Monte Palon (to the south).
At this point, the houses of Perinera can be reached, which, well preserved in its characteristic aspect of a high mountain agglomeration, offers interesting insights into the typical architecture of the place.
From Perinera, returning to the slope from which you climbed, downstream from the asphalt road, you turn left towards the broadleaf forest and proceed on a slope towards the houses of "Mulà dei Burattini" and then again on a level path through a beautiful forest, to the houses, partly in ruins, of "Mular".
As soon as you pass the mountain huts, you turn left, bypassing them and beginning to descend towards the plain, still in dense woodland, taking care to find the easiest passages between the dry stone walls of the terraces and avoiding going too far eastwards, where the wooded slope takes on a considerable inclination that would become considerably dangerous.
Turning more or less quickly and zigzagging through the scrub, you regain the level on the orographic right of the Stura, which you follow eastwards, in the direction of the starting point, as far as the "Ciamberlin" bridge, which you cross to return to the Casa del Fondo.
