Introduction

Easy hike around Alpe Devero and the charming village of Crampiolo. Also suitable for untrained hikers and easy even in winter with snowshoes. In the low season there is a good chance of encountering, in the area of the Sangiatto Lakes, deer, chamois and Galli Forcelli. Present in the area but now very rare is another alpine galliform: the Francolino di Monte. In Crampiolo there is the possibility of tasting the local cheese, Bettelmat, at the Alpe Crampiolo holiday farm.

Description

From Alpe Devero (1640m), take the path that climbs gently towards Codelago and in about half an hour you reach the village of Crampiolo (1767m). From here, a diversion of a few minutes takes you to Lago Azzurro. Retracing one's steps, one crosses Crampiolo to begin the path that climbs through a beautiful larch forest to the Sangiatto lakes (2034m). From the lakes, cross the flat road to the Corbernas huts (2002m) and start descending towards the Devero Lake dam (1856m). From here you descend along a small road to Crampiolo and return to Alpe Devero.
