Description
From Moena we take the cable car to Alpe Lusia (€10 one way in 2013) up to the 220m Le Cune refuge.
Path 614 takes us to Rif Paso di Lusia, descending steeply to the refuge. From here, path 633 climbs comfortably to the Laste huts (2327m) and in half an hour leads to the Lusia lakes and the Redolf bivouac. (approx. 1hr10 from the start).
We continue to the left along trail no. 634 to Forcella di Cajerin where the Gronton equipped trail begins.
Up to here the trail is of difficulty E. The lakes are easily reached and the path offers a beautiful panorama of the Pale di San Martino.
From the fork, where the equipped path begins, the route becomes more demanding (EE). In dry weather, the use of ferrata equipment, which is instead recommended by the sign at the start of the path, seems excessive.
Firstly, there are very few equipped sections, and secondly, they are not particularly demanding.
The path winds its way up steps on old war paths. Firm footing is required
