Description
The starting point for our excursion is Monte Pana, which can be reached by chairlift from Santa Cristina or by car.
From the Cendevaves hotel we can take path 30A, go into the woods and, following the signs, join path 30 a little higher up. Follow path 30 on the right towards Saltria and then take path 525 towards Rifugio Vicenza.
When you arrive at Plan de Cunfin, before the road starts to climb, a not very evident track branches off to the right (the red marks are on the trunks of the trees ........which are 80m further on!). This is path 527A, which avoids staying on the road and allows you to meet 527 higher up, first passing through the forest, then on a short stone path.
Once sl 527, the ascent becomes gentle but continuous, until we reach the most tiring section, which leads to a little gate at an altitude of 2122m where we can enjoy an excellent panorama of Puez/Odles, Rasciesa, Seceda, Sassopiatto, Alpe di Siusi and Sciliar.
From this point, the trail continues on a semi-plan until it meets the road leading to the Sassopiatto hut via a short but strenuous climb.
At the hut, there are signs for trail no. 4 towards Pas de Duron.
The trail first passes along the ridge and then contours to the left to the Palacia peak, up to the Sella Palacia (2200m). If you wish, you can follow the ridge trail of the winter trail up to the Sella.
From here there is a beautiful panorama of the Denti di Terrarossa and the mountains of the Val di Fassa.
Continue on path 4 and, having arrived at a small gate indicating the path to Rif Alpe di Tires on the left, we take the right. This is path 4A (unmarked but evident, a less beaten path than the one leading to Passo di Duron.
At the junction with the road, we turn right towards the Malga Zallinger.
