Lac d'Arsine, from Pas de l'Âne
Introduction
One of the most beautiful landscapes in the Ecrins Park, a truly enchanting place, particularly in late spring. During our tour, we encountered numerous wild animals and all sorts of flowers. Plus glaciers, lakes and waterfalls in fabulous colours.
.Description
From the Pas de l'Âne car park, a path on a false level pushes into the valley of the "La Romanche" stream. As we ascend, we encounter on the right the Val de L'Homme with the Lautaret and Armande glaciers, and between those peaks we also find La Meije, hidden from our view but clearly present in the view coming from Briancon. Having passed this confluence, the path begins to climb more steeply just above the beautiful waterfalls of the torrent. Arriving at around 1900m, the Pian de l'Alpe opens up before our eyes with "Les Agneaux" in the background in the distance. We leave the path to the Alpe de Villar d'Arène refuge on our right and continue to climb gently up the valley until we reach Col d'Arsine (2340m). From here, a short path climbs to our right to reach Lake d'Arsine (2455m) with its characteristic waters of glacial origin.
