Chamois, from the Col de Fontana Fredda
Access
Go up the Valtournanche and park at Buisson (1119m) by the cable car (free, but with a ticket). The lift costs 6 € A/R, being the only way to access the village.
.Introduction
The hike is not very strenuous, with the ascent taking advantage of the lifts, usually open between mid-July and the end of August. If closed, you must start from Lake Lod (+500m asl and +1h30) or from Chamois (+700m asl and +2h).
Description
Chamois, at 1818 m, is a dream and the village is beautiful! You get tickets for the other three chairlifts that take you to the top (€14). To enjoy the various sights, stop after the 1st to admire Lake Lod (2015 m). Continuing to gain metres without effort, you arrive near the Clavalitè sanctuary (2520 m). Super, hyper, mega spectacular 360 degree panorama! You will never leave again! You do a stretch of the ridge and then, from a building (col of Fontana Fredda, 2472 m), you turn right onto a path, with minimal doubt, as the poles are half destroyed (!). It descends, uncomfortably at first, then improves and in about 1h15, Cheneil (2110), another car-free village, appears. From the little chapel of Notre-Dame de la Guerison there are several benches.
