Introduction
Beautiful hike in an environment dominated by mountain pine and marmots. Ideal for discovering the fascinating world of the Sarneri. Don't miss a visit to the Durnholz parish church with frescoes from the 1400s.Description
0h00' From the lake, take the signpost for Reinswald, trail heading south. The path initially alternates between stretches over meadows and stretches on an asphalted road, passing the Schacher, Egger (where the balcony joining the two huts is well worth taking a photograph) and Kröss huts. Immediately to the right of the Kross hut, descend over a meadow towards the Laste stream. At the end of the meadow, we continue to the left, cross the Laste and climb up to a forest road.
0h45' Here, we leave the signs for Reinswald and turn left. The route now runs entirely through dense fir forest, without any problems. When we reach a fork in the path, we leave the road to the right, which will be our return route, and continue to the left, taking the Weiferhötz alpine pasture as our point of reference. On the plateau below the ascent to the hut, however, we leave the forest track and proceed eastwards in the direction of the Plankenhorn. A few minutes and we find an easy track that allows us to gain an altitude of 2000 metres in the enchanting scenery of the pastures below the Gedrumspitz and Plankenhorn peaks. For the return journey, we retrace our route to the previously described fork in the road.
1h50' Here, instead of going to the right, we continue straight on in the direction of Ledner, the first hut in the village of Reinswald. We now have a long forest walk ahead of us, where at one point we will also encounter a repeater. Just above the Ledner meadows, we come across the signpost for Durnholz, which easily rejoins the outward path at the bridge over the Laste stream.
