On 28 April 2004, Patrick Berhault, a skilled French climber and mountaineer known for his numerous exploits in the Alps, died. During the last of his exploits – the linking of all 82 4,000-metre peaks in the Alps – he suffered a fatal fall along the ridge separating the Täschhorn from the Dom des Mischabel.
