On 17 August 1935, Corrado Alberico and Luigi Borgna were killed when they were swept away by an avalanche of ice. They were on their way to the Col de la Brenva (4,333 m) along the steep, icy slope dotted with seracs. The following year, a bivouac situated at the Col de la Fourche (3,684 m) was named in honour of the two mountaineers.
