On 1 March 1879, Roger de Monts, Bertrand Courrèges, Barthélémy Courrèges and Victor Paget Chapelle reached the summit of Pic d’Aneto (3,405 m) in the Pyrenees for the first time. This was one of the first winter ascents in the massif.
